Dr. Mariyam Waqqas

Having grown up in Durham Region, Dr. Mariyam Waqqas believes that exceptional eye care is about more than improving vision, it’s about meaningful connection. This philosophy is what first inspired her to pursue optometry, and it’s what continues to drive her dedication to helping patients care for their vision and eye health.

Dr. Waqqas received her Honours Bachelor of Health Science from Ontario Tech University before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo. She completed clinical rotations across Ontario, working with optometrists and ophthalmologists to diagnose and manage a wide variety of conditions, such as glaucoma, dry eye disease, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Whether providing routine eye care or managing more complex concerns, Dr. Waqqas is committed to helping each patient feel understood, informed, and at ease throughout their care.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll likely find her reading a good book, searching for her next favorite café, or planning her next adventure.
